Types of Mattress For a Perfect Night’s Sleep

A mattress is simply a large, typically rectangular pad for resting a sleeping individual. It’s designed primarily to be utilized as either a primary bed or as a platform on which to turn over to lay on the bed or on top of a regular bed frame. Regardless of the intended application, most people recognize a mattress as an extremely important piece of bedding furniture – and rightly so! It may be easy to assume that all mattresses are alike, but this isn’t always the case. In fact, there are several different types of mattress to consider when shopping for a new mattress. The first one that comes to mind is a traditional spring mattress, which has long been a popular choice for providing comfort and support to a sleeper. However, new technologies and materials such as memory foam have made it possible to provide even greater support while offering more comfort than ever.

A second option to consider is the side sleeper, also known as the “innerspring” mattress. As the name implies, these models are manufactured from a series of coils that coil around the innermost layer of the mattress itself. While they don’t provide the same support and comfort as the innerspring variety, they can still provide quite a bit of support while not in use, allowing you to turn over without worrying about being uncomfortable. A third option that is becoming increasingly popular is the “box spring” mattress, which consists of two layers of box springs located at the front and/or back of the mattress. This provides a more natural support system than the innerspring variety and generally has less of a tendency to sag over time.
